With health care expenditures in Australia comprising about 8.5 per cent of GDP, there is considerable interest in understanding the health system. This research group is actively involved in developing, applying and evaluating economic and econometric methods for analysing the behaviour of patients, providers, managers and other decision makers in the health system. Governments play an especially important role in the funding of health care services, making the evaluation of government policy initiatives a key element of the group's focus.
